Mike Hansen MK started playing music at the age of seven, first on piano and then bass and guitar as a young teenager. The 60s were good times. MK finished college, traveled with a backpack and a guitar for five years. Music fell by the wayside for a time when he started a career and family. MK's daughter ignited his desire to play music again. MK has played both guitar and bass for local area bands.

Guitar
Mike Dave, the "young pup", was introduced to the blues as a young child when his father gave him a cassette of Taj Mahal's "The Real Thing". This album remains one of his favorite. He bought his first guitar for $10 from his junior high music teacher, and before he even knew how to tune it, he had taught himself to play a basic 12-bar blues. Fortunately, he eventually learned how to tune his guitar, and by high school had been introduced to electric blues. At 16, he saved up and bought his first electric guitar: a Fender Telecaster. He and like-minded friends formed a series of garage bands that played covers of songs by the artists like Stevie Ray Vaughan, the Allman Brothers, and, at Dave's insistence, Little Charlie and the Nightcats. In college, he became involved with KDVS radio, and produced the first episode of "Buried Alive in the Blues" in 2001. During his research for his radio show, Dave was introduced to the music of Freddie, B.B. and Albert King, Albert Collins, Peter Green, Mike Bloomfield, and many others. After college, Dave took a break from playing music until he discovered the Sacramento "Blues Jam" scene. Dave now has a whole fleet of guitars, but his main guitar is still the Telecaster he bought at 16.  You can hear Dave host "Buried Alive in the Blues" on KDVS at 90.3 on the FM dial, Saturdays 6-9 AM.

Drums
Jim Jim wanted to be a drummer since seeing the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show in 1964. He got his first drum when he was 10 years old, but it wasn't until he was 11 that his mom, a San Fransisco waitress, saved up enough tips to buy him his first full kit. Jim has played in a lot of bands and a lot of clubs in the years since. In 1988, his country band El Dorado opened for country music icon George Jones in concert at the Fresno Events Center. He came to the blues quite by accident when he joined the Mere Mortals in Sacramento in 1999. Jim spent four years with the Mere Mortals, and his drumming is featured on their CD "Little by Little." Jim joined up with the Spotted Dogs in 2008. Remember to tip your waitress!
